New to me Jonsered!

Nope it's not some 90cc work horse but I have been watching for a decent top handle saw at what I would call a decent price for a while now. Anyhow here it is it's a Johnsered CS2135T. Can't wait to limb and clear brush with this thing! Got it for $240 including shipping and so far it seems to be in good shape. Gave it a few pulls and the compression seemed ok but I will hopefully get to run it this weekend.

 

I have the orange version. It was a little finicky when I got it but I did a muffler mod and it's a little screamer now.

 

This might be the first saw I do a muffler mod on as I have read that it really helps them. Not sure about it being finicky yet but will find out. I was glad that it was the 2135T meaning it actually is the 39cc version that was right before they moved on to the current 2139. I'm hoping I like it.

 

Love the little top handle saw !!! I have an ECHO cs-271t . It is perfect for what its made for !! I did a muffler mod..and popped out the limiter caps. It now breaths better..and sounds cool too !! Enjoy that cool lil guy

 

Great light weight saw for liming etc.

That's probably what they refer to as the "California" in orange. It won't have my finicky vent issue. It was an easy enough fix by plumbing a plastic breather into the fuel cap though. Mine's a mean little saw and so handy around the woodpile.

That thing should be a little monster after a muffler mod.

 

I have a Jonsered CS2139T (39cc) & a Husqvarna 338xpt California (45cc). The California models were labeled different than the other saws in that model with a "California" on the recoil. The later models of the 338xpt have a sticker on the left top side of the saw which says "New Edition" these saws are CARB approved and are sold in all the states which eliminated the need for a special saw for California sales. I don't know the years the "California" editions were sold, mine is a 2007 model. If any one know, please educate me.




I have been very happy with both saws. I did a muffler mod per information gathered by Holmen Tree on the 338xpt. It is located at the bottom outside of the muffler. I am very pleased with the results. Holmen also stated the next one will be done by removing the screen & deflector then enlarging the current exit hole then replacing the screen & adding a larger deflector. 2 reasons for the change: 1 - Burnt hole in chaps & 2 - It will be compliant for areas where the screen has to be in place to cut or you face large fines.

I did not do a muffler mode on the CS2139T so I will have a quieter saw to use in early morning in urban areas.

 

Yeah that's the one. So far it seems good cant wait to fire it up.

 

Lol, Hope I didn't beat you to it. I can't wait to try it out but I can't get motivated to cut wood with -10 windchills. Guess I'm a wimp lol

 

Any info you could provide or point me towards as far as the muffler mod you are talking about would be appreciated. Really thinking hard about modding this one.

Couldn't take it any longer...... I took it out in the blowing snow fueled it up and started it. It started on the the third pull and ran great! Plowed driveways for two hours and then went an cut a bucket load of wood just for the fun of it. The chain needs sharpened but it ran great. I'm gonna say this is going to be a great little saw to own. So light but yet seems like it has a bad attitude! I was going to take pictures but my phone died on me

 

I love top handles...so light and nimble. Great for small diameter logs and branches.

 

I agree, these saws are impressive especially for their size.

I am also a fan of top handle saws. I like the ergonomics & compactness.

 

The danger with them is that you can get overly cavalier and forget they are deadly. I find myself tempted to one hand the saw a lot given the low weight.
