Hi all, grew up burning and cutting. Heat my own home now going on 6 years with just an old earth stove. Looking for info on that stove led me here. Seeing the loaded car truck pics made me want to sign up lol.
I run a 461 and built my own mill/log arch last year.

Welcome. The name Boomstick brings the image of a log with holes bored in each end and chained together to make an enclosure for sorting logs in the water. Boomsticks are also used around the outside edge of a boom of logs when transporting by water. Not quite what Grizzly Adam thought of.

    Make yourself at home Boomstock!

Funny, I thought of the same thing as Grizzly did, so hearing your explanation Woodwidow was interesting. :)

Hello FHC! I've been lurking for a couple years after stalking Dennis here from somewhere else, having gotten a bunch of great info from his posting to help me out with this whole farwood business. We heat our new-to-us 1800s home exclusively with the Woodmaster since moving in in October 2014. The first year was murderous, hand splitting on Sunday to get through the week and feeding the hungry boiler three times a day. Next year was easier thanks to the idea of at least semi-dry wood and knowing how to run the stove, this year should be a piece of cake even with a baby on the way as we have had a full winter's worth css since early spring and are currently adding to the stacks with next winter and beyond in mind.

Using 10 cord+ it will take a bit to get on the 3yr plan, but we believe in it and are well on the way!

After the first year buying a couple log loads and getting snookered on a few cords of pine, everything has been scrounged and foraged off our couple acres here.

Looking forward to learning more and lending a hand with what knowledge I've gotten over the last couple years! Thanks for being here, everybody!
