Graduated my last of four sons last night, so everyone sleeping in. 80 degrees here already and humid at 9am, headed out to nearby log pile of locust, ash and cherry I was given. It suddenly struck me this may be the first load of wood I have done alone in maybe ten years, and I know many of you cut alone all the time. So I backed the truck up, unloaded gear, and started my timer. So how long does it take a 50 year old to cut and stack this small diameter load, only stopping once to refuel? 57 minutes and was soaking wet head to tow. And it is still loaded on the truck, and will also need no splitting. That number is interesting, since I burn 15 cords a year 10/1-5/15. Glad I have my cutting buddies to team with, and still would rather do this than lift wights at the gym!
Congrats getting the last one graduated! For Log loads, I figure about an hour to buck a face, then another to split, and another to stack. Getting in the woods is a whole 'nother ballgame.
Ah yes, I too remember when our last one graduated. Been cutting alone many times since but that load would have taken me 58 days. Wait! You said minutes... Days here.
Congrats to the last one, graduating. Good work Greg. Up to 56 I was about right there with you on a load like that, but this year at Easter the herniated disc became part of the picture and the Lord slowed me down.
