    I'd love to tell you that's a nice haul of locust but it looks like red maple to me.

    The bark doesn't look like locust but I only have black locust up here.

    Looks like Honey Locust - the bark can very closely resemble maple.

    Looks like a big one! Is there any more of it? Get all you can! :dex:

    Not sure you ever will in this part of MI either. And yes, the bark does resemble maple but not the grain.

    Just look at the btu charts. The higher the btu's, the heavier the wood. It's up there, above oaks, and sugar maple, but below the btu Kings like Osage orange and shagbark hickory.

    It's planted in a ton of cities around here, especially between the curb and sidewalks.
