Sounds like a pretty good deal. Full load of wood is $200. That includes delivery up to 10 miles away Hard wood. Ranging in size. From 18inch up to 14 foot long logs. Log diameter ranging from 5 inch up to 35 inch Dump truck size is approx 18 yards. Will be hardwood only unless requested otherwise. How many cords ya think that is ? What do ya figure the weight is truck n wood ?
Great I thought I had the day off and now you want me to do math. 18 cu. yd. at 27 cu. ft. per yard = 486 cu. ft. / 192 what is approx. 1 cord of split firewood loosely piled = 2.531 cord. So you should get just under 2 cord. If anyone knows a better way of figuring this out please show me as I am always willing to learn.
How many foot long is the trailer? Height of walls? x 6.5' wide /192 I am guessing the trailer is 16' long x 6.5' wide x 3' high = 312 cu. ft. /192= 1.62 cord. It looks like the wood on your trailer is higher then 3' high so it would be much closer to 2 cord split.
Bad thing is that dump truck would probably not be good for the backyard, probably have to dump it in the driveway and move it back there. Maybe in August but not now
"rounds & logs" might leave some big voids in the load, but I don't think you'll "get hurt" on this deal. weather of not it's a great deal or not will come when it's c/s/s.
It's a good deal no matter what. My brother sells wood in a 6 yard dump truck. Dumped in, with some hand throwing to fill out the corners, he hauls 1 1/3 cord of 16" split wood. I am sure the load the OP was talking about would have to be at least 2.5 cord, probably more.
I would think that it would hold more than two cords of logs n rounds. I'm not too sure if he is a firewood guy, I asked him for a guesstimate how much his truck holds and he said he didn't know for sure, probably 3 to 5 face cords, gotta hold more than a cord n 2/3
I saw another ad on Craigslist a place about 60 miles south of here, maybe that's what this guy with the dump truck is doing. Paying to get rid of hardwood firewood Tree company will compensate fuel to pick up logs. Dump trucks and trailers. Pickups also welcome can load with a machine. Leave contact info
Yeah, That place is actually 70 miles from here if I had bigger better equipment I would just go get some. Also I would have to deal with Detroit traffic
I went through Detroit once. I would buy fuel oil before driving any miles to Detroit, free wood or not!
