That was an awesome score! I was reading about cleaning old axes with vinegar. I may try that next time I get my hands on a good one.

I'll post pictures when it gets here. Yesterday I pulled the trigger and bought the DR splitter ( K-28 ). I couldn't pass up the deal with zero percent for 24 months ( less then $90.00 a month ) to more then double what I can now do with just my Timberwolf TW-P1.
If we don't take care of the most important part of this addiction we have ( our bodies ) then the fun is all over. Smart move getting the brace, I have one that is similar only problem is I forget to put it on till my back starts to hurt.
Just remember, the brace doesn't allow you to lift more weight! Some folks think that since they have a brace on, they can lift heavier stuff without any detrimental effects.
Is that the one you have ? How do you like it ? I need to get a different one , don't like the one I have so I don't ware it
Not quite the same but the same principle. Like I wrote I don't pull it out but once or twice a year when I screw up my back. My Chiropractor says my left hip is moving forward something about damage to the 3rd and 4th vertebrae , does some adjustment and I am fine. See him once or twice a tear as well. Never believed in them till my Doctor sent me to see one. Crazy as it sounds within a few hours after seeing Roger ( Chiropractor ) I am fine, so I tried the same move facing away from my 80 qt. mixer standing on the left side grabbing the hub with my right hand that is across my chest and pulling. Does relieve some of the minor pains. Not cheap but don't always have the time to spend waiting in his office.
First load with the cart vs wheelbarrow. The wheelbarrow went into retirement today. It looks like 1 cart load equals 4 wheelbarrow loads. Plus the lack of the wheelbarrow wanting to go over sideways bonus, plus the lack of pushing the wheelbarrow 100 yards bonus equals 500 well spent doll hairs.
I wore a lot of different kinds of earplugs over the years in the factory my stash from work is now depleted, due to the mice getting into the last of them in the pole barn, chewing them up and peeing on them, so I went online searching and found the ones I really liked that I used to wear, on eBay, Howard Leight Max Lite Corded Foam Ear plugs , bought 25 pairs. I don't like wearing ear muffs when it starts getting warm out Also I ran across this other stuff for a very good price Echo hat, sunglasses and landscaper gloves, gloves are pretty good, looks like they might last a while.
I hate ear muffs too. I've got 2 pairs of semi custom radians plugs. You mix the 2 putties and jam it in your ear. They set up in about 10 minutes. They effortlessly pop into your ears and you forget they are there. I can't say enough good things about them. I've had mine for over 2 years. Supposedly they start to lose effectiveness but I haven't noticed yet. You can buy them on amazon for about 20 bucks. One pair stays with my range bag and the other is for around the house. I never used to use plugs or muffs for mowing grass, line trimming, leaf blowing but I do now and it's only because they are so comfortable. Muffs definitely suck when it's hot, and I hate rolling up the plugs. It always takes me a few tries. I'd bet most people are using plugs wrong too.
I constantly see people at the range without ear plugs in properly. The first time I used them properly was night and day. Pulling the ear back makes all the difference .
Like you I never used to wear ear plugs Mowing and such but I always do now. I saw that kind you are talking about online. I like the corded earplugs because if you take them out you can just criss cross them and they will hang on your neck and not fall off, no need to put them in your pocket or in a box or whatever, they are there when you need to put them back in. After wearing earplugs for most of 32 years at work I have plenty of practice popping them in there real quick, and yes doing it the proper way gets them in there quick with a good fit.
A lot of folks look at me like I'm Safety Sam or something when I'm wearing ear plugs running the wood splitter or bush hogging, etc. Other motorcycle riders are like: Why you wearing ear plugs when you ride? Just wait I tell them. I agree that muffs are hot. I did find some adhesive fabric pads that stick on where the muff meets your skin that help a little, but I think they also take away some of the sound protection. I use Moldex 6800 plugs. Usually buy 25-30 pairs at a time. They are cheap enough that I only use them for a day and then toss them. For those who reuse earplugs, I'd recommend washing them periodically. As shown above, there is a proper way to put them into your ears. No sense bothering with them if not worn correctly. I do use electronic muffs when I'm with others while shooting. Not as effective as plugs, but I like to be able to hear what's going on with the other folks. That's a pretty sharp hat HD!
Picked up my K-28 DR splitter today and had it together in one hour with help. Seems to work great the only problem is I didn't want to stop splitting. I guess I'll tire or that soon enough.
Just ordered these yesterday-Moldex 6405-I wear them mowing, weed eating, splitting, etc-still wear helmet and muffs when cutting though-I've been to a lot of concerts, played a lot of loud music in my time...trying to preserve it now...
