Had saw 2 weeks. I worked it hard. New saw and warranty. Get cutting last time and gas pouring out. Just fueled.assumed it was the flippy cap. Cleaned and retightened. Still leaking, take off cover found tank breather broken. Take to dealer he accuses me of getting the saw hit or pinched and breaking it. Wanted to not charge me for fix it right it with a barb fitting
That's sad that they go right to blaming the user without really throughly investigating. Not that it's not usually the case, but it's poor form at best. And their are plenty of times that the user did everything right. Hang in there, the 250 is a winner.
Yes and No. Independent dealer's margins keep getting thinner, especially on new sales and they often get absolutely killed on warranted work. Also, in our ever more "throw away society" there are an ever increasing number of "Harry Homeowner" consumers who buy OPE (usually at the big boxes for rock-bottom price) abuse and neglect their machines and then when something goes wrong, march back to the big box blaming the product. Big boxes will always bend over backwards to kiss these customers' @sses, and hand out a "free" replacement, because they have massive volume/capital to cover these incidents. As soon as an independent dealer asks a single question (as in "thoroughly investigating"), BOOM!, they are consider a complete jerk by the customer and now there is a big mess and usually said customer starts posting bad reviews all over the internet, without the dealer being able to reply or clarify. I can see how this type of behavior can put the independent dealer on the defensive. Then, when someone does come in with a legit problem (such as Blackop555 ?) the dealer has all this baggage behind him and he seems to act defensive and blaming. P.S. there are good dealers who know how to handle this type of thing, but, I'm just saying, I wouldn't want to have to deal with this stuff every day, just to put food on my family's table. Hope your saw gets taken care of.
I mentioned to him a week earlier that I was looking at a 661 you would think he want to take care of me kinda. The 250 is for limbing only. A saw should take a bit of abuse. New tanks look like they are updated with a collar around the hose not just a nipple
Which would indicate the manufacturer was getting problems feedback from repairs that a defect had to be corrected. It could be the manufacturers don't communicate with the dealers on such things. I know in the automotive industry they have things that are called Service/Technical Bulletins that update car dealers on known defects/issues.
Worked at Ford dealer for 6 years I know the drill. He epoxyed it back on and wont make a penny. Just got it today. Didn't even put on new chain that I wanted to upgrade
Shoot, man, that's a tough one to call..... Maybe you could pull the owner aside and feel out what his business angle is, i.e. how it's going at his shop, relate an issue you may have had in your own experience in a similar situation, and then just level with the guy- you'd bring him your business if he'd work with ya. IDK- I just sense sometimes with situations like this, a little asking and listening goes a long way in opening someone up and forging at least a working relationship. Just my $.02, sir.
I work at a shop and do all the 2 cycle engine work. I have plenty of Stihls that come in for repair. I get paid 12 bucks an hour and how long do you think it would take to repair that vent. The cost to make that right would have been chicken feed if you ask me. 2 weeks is like a brand new saw and he should have remembered you from when you bought it. Just saying.
The shop I work for told me that the real money they make is in the service not the sales of new equipment.
Just because i am a little stupid i want understand The tank vent of the two weeks ms 250 is broken and the dealer dont want to repair it ???
The margin that they make on new items that are sold is not enough for them to keep the doors open. If it were not for the service they would be out of business.
