What is good base material to put down before we pour the concrete?

Thanks!! Your message with crete in it gave me a lightbulb. Duh, the guy doing my floor also has a concrete company in his family. Asked him for quote next time he is out here. (also, reality check, this is one more project WWW wants to do that he cannot afford time for anyway). Good Advice Mister Bo!

~$1K for 15 x 15 poured slab. Excellent, my lil one will have a patio this summer instead of just the mud from the new septic last fall!!!!!

Does that include 3/4" stones with steel sheets on top under the concrete for strength and drainage so it will not crumble?

Not sure, he mentioned a fiber mesh for strength and a joint in the middle.

I almost had a disaster because the water table is so high in the spring. There was just a tiny seapage but if I did not have 7 tons of stone under my cement floor and side walk I would have been in trouble!
Steel is stronger than fiber mesh and for a slab make sure to get a 4,000 PSI concrete mix with the synthetic fibers in the mix to prevent micro cracking and then coat the top no more than 1 day later with MasterKure for a good slow curing process!

That's a great price! Around here, the concrete and gravel for base (material only) would be around half of that or more! That doesn't leave the installer much profit $ for the amount of work involved in pouring concrete.

Signed the contract today, I added a few more feet. He pointed out some gravel on the back of the property left over from replacing the septic installation last fall to use for the base, I wonder if that makes a price difference?

Looks like you're going to be winning in the pouring of slabs race!

My patio pour in scheduled for Thursday yooperdave :p

Not looking forward to having to take Blondie out on a leash for a day or so, but I have high hopes about it helping all the mud the dogs track in here.
