Good advice. It would be a bummer if it was sold out from under him and he ended up regretting it. We almost bought a similar one, good truck with few creature comforts but low miles for the age, at that point in time WWW was driving a zillion miles per week, he passed up on it because of the gas mileage and manual windows and seat adjustments, and he has regretted it for a couple years now.

Yes I have been a mindful of the fact that someone may buy it....however it would take a ol country boy like me to want the ol brute.... And it has been sitting on the lot for awhile atleast 2-3 moths or more....I do know however this truck would be great for hauling all the wood I cut.... I cut atleast 1-3 times a week until it's dark, or I am tired of it....so I do need a tough truck!!!!!

You would need to tow something very large and very heavy to even get the heart rate up on the 454. Unless you are planning on a new bed you'll never be able to haul enough firewood in the truck to make a 454 noticably better than a 305/350/5.3. The extra 300 or so lbs of cast iron under the hood may even be a liability on soft ground.

probably a lot less. The big dealer sent it to an auction - they don't care about the 2500 trade value, they made that back on the new vehicle(s).
They'll tell you they "reconditioned" it, washed and wiped down the plastic bits with Armorall, more than likely recovered the bench seat, painted the rusty wheels black.

How much slop, if any, is there in the driver door hinges?

Ya it is hard telling what they paid, you are right.... I did check doors felt good... When those Chevys doors get loose do you have to replace the pins????!
And these guys ain't put a damm dollar into the truck the turn signal is out and brake lights out..... I would say it is the bulbs because the flashes work in the back, but ya never know... That's why I goin to wait til next Monday and go back with last and final offer.....

Good point, I do however have a guy that will give me all the wood I can possibly want in logs....I have a trailer I can borrow, and the guy lives 20 miles from me.... So if for whatever reason I cant get wood, I could always get it from him.... Could always get it from him and sell it too, as he just wants it gone....I like the fact that I can load the bed with as much wood as I can, and have the power to also pull a trailer, that would mean more wood less trips....

I asked about the doors, because it would be an indication of a lot of idling, starts/stops.
No brake lights could be the pedal switch, but electrical gremlins will have to wait until you own this beast;)

You're already talking yourself up to their price. ;)

The power yes, but with a SRW you should be careful not to exceed the rear axle weight ratings. I like to load a trailer heavy and use the truck to haul the gear.

$ 3,400.00 and your back-up. Cash is King! It's pretty obvious you want this truck, don't let them know that. And clarify- That's the "out the door price", no hidden taxes or other BS or you walk.

damm man you got me pegged, my chainsaw adiction says I need to be in the woods getting loads tomorro, lol,,,, in all seriousness you are exactly right.... I will wait it out till this coming Monday, then flash them 3500....

Yes I want the truck, but my willing to barter attitude can change on a dime, and if they don't want to do some dealing on a truck that's been there since snow flew, I will tell them to just keep her there taking up valuable lot space and call me in a week or my deal off the table!!!!!

Little do they know I have enuff wood stock piled I wouldn't even have to start my saw for 2 years and I will still have wood left over.....is this a better attitude lol!!!!:smoke:

Yes I don't own a big trailer yet lol, but I have a few good friends that have good size trailers I can use..... Only problem is my big job I am on now, is all tight azz trails in a woods.... Maybe I could make a make-shift "landing" and just haul the wood to the trailer, so I can get more loads in less trips..... Mastermech and the rest of you guys, what kind of trailers do you use for getting wood.... I will buy my own trailer one day, but it will have to wait a little while anyway...

I've used everything from a small 5x10 utility trailer to a 16ft landscape but my favorite way so far is a Kodiak 4500 dump. (Dmax, 3 pedals ) Gooseneck dump with fold-down sides would be the cats azz for firewood I think. Logs or cut rounds.

Wow a dump trailer, yes I have seen and used them, but I would have to turn one into a camper and live in it if I came home with that expensive azz thing LMAO.....ya a landscaping trailer would be a good one for sure, hell really a 12 foot utility trailer would be great for me....I just wonder how much wieght they would safely hold....

Most 12' utility trailers will likely have a 3500lb axle. That's not a lot of firewood....especially green.

I wouldn't worry about a trailer yet...payload capacities are "guidelines" on $3500 wood trucks
