Sad to admit it, but I did not even do one thing this weekend to add to the piles. No Cutting, no splitting, or stacking. I did walk the 25 acres to GPS in some firewood trees and some sale logs, but I missed out. Between the wind and rain yesterday it was a loss. Sad day. No for me this time!!
I try to roll with the punches, if it's nice I get some work done. If it rains I find something else to do, even if it's a nap. Getting the lawn mowed gets tricky though.
I hear you guys on the nap. I am stuck in an office all week and the weekends are my time to enjoy life. Admittedly, I did sneak in a 5 minute nap!!
Time to turn the rains off for a while so some outdoor work can get done. I imagine many farmers are chomping at the bit to get out into the fields.
Busy time of year for sure - between getting the garden in, kids' activities, work, and trying to get all the wood taken care of before it gets ungodly hot, plus mowing grass, there is hardly a free moment during the daylight hours. Probably a lot of the wood activities will have to wait until it's ungodly hot anyway!
Took me three trips out to get the grass all mowed. And I only have 2/3 of an acre We got 2 inchs of rain here. Grass is going crazy!
Some things ya just cant do in the rain. That said Ive adapted over the years and work in the rain if its feasible. Chores and maintenance piles up quick if'n ya don't.
I went out last night in the rain and skid about 2/3 of a cord of small logs to my landing area. Muddy mess, but I got out!
How did you get a picture of me this weekend? I was far too lazy this last weekend, luckily that makes it easier to justify running the saw a bunch during the week! Going camping this weekend and gotta get some farwood c/s/s to bring along. It is with a bunch of family, so I have to bring a lot with us, being the crazy hoarder of the family. Oh, the responsibilities! Just not sure how much to bring for two nights and mornings. Guess half a truck bed will have to do.
I don't mind the rain that much, keeping me inside forces me to take care of other stuff I've been putting off when the weather is nice. Saturday I started babyproofing the house by attaching all the tall bookshelves to wall studs. I also assembled all the baby crap (I mean toys) my wife has been buying (tricycle, baby pool, hung the baby swing in a tree in between showers) and replaced the front rotors and pads on my car. Sunday was supposed to be a washout as well, and my wife and I waited inside until noon waiting for it to start but it never did. So we took a chance and loaded up the kids and bikes and went up to the park and rode for an hour or so and then let our oldest daughter play on the playground. Then we went home, put some water in the baby pool and let both girls play in that while I grilled some tuna steaks. It didn't start raining until I took the fish off the grill right around 6:30. It was a pretty good weekend for me.
Sounds like the rain may have led to the need for the baby proofing in the first place. All good points though!
She just started crawling a week ago. She can't get more than 5 feet before she's tuckered out right now, but very soon she'll be getting in to all kinds of stuff!
Indeed. They grow so fast. Trouble is, most do not realize it until they've grown up. With us, we sometimes pinch ourselves to make sure we are awake when realizing we have a great granddaughter 4 years old already.... Where did the time go?! But oh, the memories!
Raced home last night after doing some home wiring and put a up a new mailbox, cut the grass, weedeated, cleaned out the fridge, took the garbage out and went to get take out for supper. I needed to go back to work today to get a break!..........
