    :tip:Hi guys!

I've just spent some time googling replacement chains for my Husqvarna 135e. Oh boy, talk about confusion. Pretty new territory for me, and a mix of imperial and metric numbers. :loco:

Look; the Husky web page says that this saw uses 3/8 LP chain (Low Profile). That seems hard to find?

However! The owner manual states no "LP" requirement. Only 3/8 gauge chain.

    My questions are:
    1. Do I need LP-type chain, or is that just an option?
    2. What advantages do a LP-type chain have?

Yes, you need 3/8 LoPro. It is much smaller than 3/8. 3/8 won't fit a 3/8 LP sprocket. It is for saws 45cc and smaller. It is easier for the saw to pull than .325 or 3/8. Stihl calls it Picco. Oregon makes a pro (yellow) version called 91VXL. Eg: 91VXL052G fits 14" bar or 91VXL056G = 16" bar.

I think that Stihl chain is the best choice when it comes to a 3/8's LP chain.

    Also, file size can tell chain type...5/32" = 3/8 LP, 7/32" = 3/8. And 3/16" = .325.

And don't forget to get the right DL contact for your 3/8LP or picco chain. Also get the correct gauge (thickness or driver) chain.

Yes. I think .404" chisel if off a tad too. 13/64" for 3/8" and IIRC 7/32 for .404" RS.

Stihl files usually come in mm sizes ( 4.5, 5, 5.5 mm etc)
