It always makes me laugh with a report like that. A real wood burner would be prepared and have more than this year's wood put up already. So a cold winter just means he burns a little more but there is no shortage. But, I guess it makes for a good story for news people.
All of us on here shake our heads Sav.....but as we all also know we are somewhat the minority when it comes to wood burners. There are a lot out there that continue to try to burn water.
I just took a lot of wood off the stack today to get it ready to move in. My supplies are going to be greatly reduced after this week of cold. Should have enough no problem though.
I've had several people (both at work and out and about) ask me if I was selling firewood........guys (the SAME guys) that play all summer long and dont start cutting and splitting the wood they plan on burning this season until October.... I explain to them that I have PLENTY of firewood but its for my family....and then I proceed to preach the "3 year plan" to them as they stare at me like I'm nuts!! Well it goes to show that clean and safe burning are not priorities of theirs and now they're reeling for good wood...... Sorry about their luck!
I have some pine that I cut at the end of December. If I start running low, which I don't think I will...I'll be into that pine in March. Wonderful thing happens about March 1....you don't need to use much wood again. Just gotta' last about 5-6 weeks and it's shoulder season for me here almost.
