Neighbor offered me a good sized cherry that had fallen in her yard, plus had a chance to get two big loads of rounds from my neighbors which had been in a pile since January. Split and stacked this week. One pic shows the new pallet stack of cherry with some red maple added to top it off. The next pic shows the 3 new pallets that are finished (there are four there, but one was done about a month ago). The other pics show the final results of these two areas. The newer looking stacks = 18 full pallet stacks (about 80% red oak) and the other stacks = 19.5 full pallets and a nice mix of oak, ash, yellow/black/white birch, red maple, hemlock, and pine. Each pallet is about half a cord - so these two areas should be about 18 cord. My other two stacking areas each have 5 cord, and I have two cord in the barn already and over a cord of rounds. So, I think I'm right at 30-31 cord or so. Burning 5 cord/year on average - so, finally a full 5 years ahead but probably more like 6 years ahead now. Lots more to go! Cheers!
it's a splendid feeling being several years ahead and it just makes burning a real delight. Good Job Sir
Those stacks are a thing of beauty! I'm sure they represent a lot of time and hard work. Now you can relax for awhile and enjoy the hard work and the feeling of being years ahead!
Look'n good NH, I've got most of my wood done already as well, it's a good feeling to know it'll be ready when needed and not to be scrambling for wood at the last moment........
