    Actually, this is a bit wrong as I remember the 1950's very well so I would not have to suddenly appear. I'm already here and yes, it is hard to explain about the phones.

    A. (Revised)...... I use it to look at pictures of stacks of wood, "discuss" which is the best way to split and stack wood and watch videos of trees being cut down by those who are chainsaw "challenged" in which the end result is usually damage being done to buildings, sheds or vehicles. :)

    Or get into arguments about something called an OAK.

    Not sure if they would know about pellets other than rabbit, or a types of animal feed.

    I think the very last thing they would be shaking their heads about would be the level of technology.

    My 73 year old FIL just got a smart phone. With it he discovered online banking and bill-pay and plenty of other useful tools, I don't think he wastes his time watching cats play on the piano. On the other hand, my 65 year old MIL can barely operate a flip phone, so I think there's more to it than just age when it comes to technology. Heck, just 4 years ago my 29 year old buddy bought an iPad and had no idea how to use it. I had to help him set up his first email account and explain to him that he needed a wireless signal to get the internet; he just though the internet "showed up" wherever he was.

    You should have seen it when I was going to college taking some courses about 20 years ago. I was in my 50's then and some of the classes I took were several computer programming courses and accounting plus some math. Kids didn't know what to say when I ended up the top one in several of those classes. One class, dbase programming, my accounting professor also took the course and we sat side by side. He really struggled through that but I got him through it. Now to top it off, I've been considering taking a few more college courses. Let the kids think what they will.

    You could only imagine the reaction if folks who lived in the early 20th century could see what's what, technology-wise today....................

    Me too and I was very late in even getting a phone. Just a couple years ago we did not have one but my wife was in serious condition in the hospital and one can not find many pay phones now so I went downtown and got a phone so I could contact family. Even today, I do not carry it with me all the time. Sometimes I may go a week or more without even looking at it or using it.

    My wife loves to laugh at me when I talk about phone booths, watching the bicentennial celebrations and listening to 8 track tapes. Darn whipper snapper!

    What is really cool is that Nikola Tesla saw this coming in 1926.

    Do you remember keeping an empty 35ml film canister full of quarters in the glove box for pay phones?

    I use a smart phone, mostly not for the phone features. Pictures, taking and sending them. Keeping in touch on FB. Playing solitaire while waiting in the car for my wife while she is shopping. I keep to keep in touch with friends and relatives much more frequently than I ever did. Love the GPS. Now, I always keep it with me. I can't get around much so if I should become stuck somewhere, I would really be in trouble without someway to call for help. I won't leave the house without my phone. I won't operate it while driving. Easy to pull off the road and do whatever I need to. I am a senior. When I hear "I'm too old for that, or what do I want that for, etc" I just grin. Same could be said about a car, tv, refrigerator, or furnace etc.

    Same here. I have a landline because my signal is so weak despite a personal cell phone tower, loose almost every call. Text and pics however it works great, plus I take it with me when I go to town incase of an emergency. I am not quite an old fart but pull over if I need to use it.

    In a "roundabout" way, a '50's guy might call that a "wife".:whistle::D

    At least it wasnt the centennial celebrations of the US.
