Why bother cutting and splitting your own firewood when you can pull up a chair and enjoy a few cold ones while he does all the work and you watch. Called this guy last night and turns out he owns a Landscaping company and sells firewood for a living. He just bought this unit $59,00.00 plus out of Vermont. He will bring a loader to load your logs. I figure if he can do 4 cord and hour it's $25.00 a cord. He's about 20 minutes from where I am located. Firewood processing (on site)
I didn't see a price on processing your wood, but he's about $100 over what I pay for a split cord delivered here
The price is $100.00 an hour. Give him a call, that's why I said wonder how long he will stay at those prices.
I think that in the next few years this is what we will be seeing more of. Whenever someone starts to make a few bucks doing something everybody else is going to do it cheaper. .
I see ads around here for guys with Splitters that will come split your wood and stack it too if you want I think the prices were a little higher than that though
Same here they get around $30.00 an hour here. But when the big boys bring out the processors they will either drop their price or not do it any longer. That's what is great about the USA. Everything done for less and quicker then the next guy.
When does he start charging the $100 per hour? When he leaves his driveway or when he hits your driveway? Or after he is set up and ready to fire up? Better not count on 4 cord an hour as he doesn't state it either. With 3+ cord stated, it is probably realistically lower since he would have to move the logs to be loaded also. If you have the site ready, give him a call and find out, it would be great, no?
I did call him when I first saw the ad, at that time the ad stated 4 to 5 cord and hour. I will call him again and find out when he starts charging as I can't understand that kind of investment for such a little return. I do some front end, back hoe work on the side and I charge $95.00 an hour from the time I get to the site with a minimum of 5 hours and I have just about half that amount invested. Maybe he is trying to add onto his existing business and this is his way of building a customer base, not a bad idea and a great deal for anyone who has like 15 or more cord for an OWB.
Wonder if he needs a place to park that beast. I suppose I could find some room at my place, but would need to leaves the keys. Just in case I need to move it.
