    I'll try to be short with a long story..lol.. There are a lot of new members here since I joined and we bought our first home a little over 2 years ago. This was our second year burning and the first burning wood I'd gathered myself. My father in law kept his stacks after he quit burning which got me through last year along with a good friend of mine helping me out.

    When I joined FHC, one of my first questions was what can I get now to be ready for next season which was the one we just completed. The responses were pretty much the same but for some reason I remember Backwoods Savage specifically saying silver maple and ash. A few others mentioned tulip poplar. Well all 3 got me through the winter with a nice warm house along with some Bradford Pear.

    I've already replaced everything we burned this year plus about 2 cords once that little void on the stack is filled. And I still have all this to split and stack! I currently have 10 plus measured out cords which is probably closer to 4 years for us!

    A massive thanks to all the members here that motivated me to get ahead! Won't be long and the 8 week old little man will be my helper! Great bunch of members here! A sincere thanks to all of you! 20160417_162900.jpg 20160417_162938.jpg 20160417_163002.jpg I have dinosaur pajamas.

    Very nice. Looks like you have all under control. It is a good feeling to know that you are that far ahead and not have to be concerned about next winter. Nice stacks.

    Thanks Drvn4wood. And you did a really good job of stacking too. For sure I'll bet you can hardly wait for that little one to grow enough to help! Sweet days ahead!

    …but good job on the wood, I know you work hard on it! I just drove through your town last week on 81, forgot how pretty that valley is.

    Stacks look sweet:binoculars::yes:
    How did the splits of SM, A, T P, and BP treat you in terms of ash management? Lots, little, or all good on clean outs?

    I live on the other side of Carlisle PA from you. Ash dying everywhere, makes one of the best year round type firewoods you can find. Not sure we will be able to find many ten years from now. Hopefully some white and red oaks can take their place.

    You have got a lot done in a short time Drivin! I remember your first stacks along the driveway. If I remember right it was putting some pressure against your nice paver retaining walls.

    Big improvement with all your stacks and hoarding!

    Nice work! Ash has to be my all time favorite wood. What type of tarp / cover do you have on top of the piles. Looks more durable then the tarps I have used. Would also guess the back will help draw sun to them.

    That's very impressive!

    I'll be stoked if I can get to 10 cords ahead this year.

    I think there's a good chance of that by this fall as I'm ahead of next year already.

    The tulip definitely created a lot of ash. Found that just packing it down a few times before shoveling seemed to work well. The others weren't too bad..

    Yeah 81 is a nice ride. Especially in southern Pa and almost all of Virginia.
