Haven't burned a stick of wood in 3 days now. The extended forcast is for highs in the mid to upper 70's and lows in the 50's & low 60's. But never say never in the mid-Ohio River Valley, anything can happen with the weather through mid May. I think next week I'll remove the catalyst, sweep the pipe and call it a good burning year.
It's been a few days without a fire here too, but I'm not confident that we won't have another day cool enough to start one. I believe typical last frost date is about May 12. I did brush out the chimney and clean the stove. It needed done anyway. I like thinking about the garden and my sunflower patch this time of year! Even with a relatively mild winter, I'm happy to see spring!!
No kidding, it was snowing at my house last weekend. Then yesterday my daughter was playing with the dogs in the spray from the garden hose.
We just had our 3rd 80* plus day in a row. Back into the 60's starting tomorrow. Took all of the wood out of the house and put it back in the wood shed.
38 tonight and the same on Friday night.....probably won't need a fire tonight but after a couple days of rain may well need one Friday night.
Daytime temps. in the 50's & 60's, open the windows. Night time temps back into the 20's & 30's close the windows. Bump on the oil fired forced hot air for 10 minutes if needed in the AM. No fires since last week, so "I AM DONE" !!!!!!!!!! There, it's official.
No fires in about a week here - many days in the 70s and 80s. I think I'm done, but keeping a little wood in the house just in case. Last year I built a couple of fires in May and one in June, so you never know. Sometime in June I'll clean the chimney and stove and get it ready for the next season.
Bout the same here.....I'll brush the chimney late May and clean the stove then I set a can of damp rid inside.
Still burning a short fire at night and a short one in the morning here. Probably go another week or two. I am enjoying having to tend it less already though. We will see what the temps bring.
Work pretty good, I usually have to pour water out of the container in the fall. I figure that moisture would be rust if not.
