    After seeing two guys take out their back window throwing wood in the truck, I bought one. Last year throwing splits in the truck, DSCN1061.JPG Mrs. Mtn. man rang two pieces off of the "Back Rack" in 15 minutes times time. It's easy to do when the bed is full and the last pieces skip along the top. It paid for itself twice.

    Watching one friend try to clean millions of tiny shards of shattered glass from his cab was really eye opening.:hair:

    I've ricocheted so many pieces of wood off the back window it isn't even funny. Each time I do it, I gasp and sit there thinking "unreal it didn't break".....

    The Back Rack is half the cost of a new back window, minus the time cleaning the glass from EVERYWHERE. It was even in the heating vents.:hair:

    I don't as I carefully place each piece gently into my truck in a highly civilized and refined manner. After all, I am a gentleman.

    Nah, actually I use a trailer. :)

    I usually put racks on my truck for just this reason. I generally use the aluminum mesh rack from protech though. Super light and never rusts but amazingly strong. Www.protech.net

    I watched a buddy bounce a log through my back window a few years ago. He did pay for a new window, but I still find broken glass in my truck and it's been 5 years since that happened!!

    I do not have one. Why would you need one if you're careful, like me?

    Especially when you load your four wheeler into the truck bed and forget about the winch on the front of it?

    Insurance guy was very helpful with the claim! :picard:

    I've been looking at those but I normally run a tonneau cover. How big of a pain are they to install/remove?

    Good addition!

    I was loading lumber with my uncle many years ago when he told me to "be very careful as you don't want to hit the rear window"....that was exactly 10 seconds before he tossed in he very next 2x6 and took out the rear window. I learned some new words that day :whistle:

    Not too bad to install and remove. My last truck I had one and a tonneau. This truck I thought about both again but don't really need the rack and the tonneau is a low profile inside the rails and double the money.

    I should have one for sure - many close calls and broke the window a few years ago - insurance paid for a new one but was still an inconvenience driving around for a few days in January with the back window out. On my to-do list for the summer is to build a protector with some boards and old fencing that I have although buying one would probably be better.

    ABSOLUTELY! BackRack brand also seems really solidly made for a good price. I just added the BR siderails to protect the rails, too. Very pleased.

    I need something like that.Even though my truck for the past 11.5 years has a topper (previous one didn't) I still have close calls almost weekly.... :hair: :picard:
