I am not sure if I put this in the right forum but here goes . I have a 21x60 greenhouse that is currently heated by a 100k btu propane fired heater. I would like to put a wood stove in as my primary heat source and use the propane as a back up . I am looking for any and all ideas that you may have. Thank you in advance.

I was thinking along the lines of a barrel stove or maybe using a Fisher style stove. I would like to get the temp up to 55- 60 in the greenhouse when the outside temps get below that. I have to do some research on rocket stoves.

Bob Blunt is this a year round green house or a season extender.. Are you a handy guy? how tall is the peak? thinking cubic feet here... most greenhouses up here have fans for circulation anyway...

Me if its not a business...find a used stove on craigslist. throw it in and try it.. pour a pad.. Pics would probably help..

My first thought was moving the heat around. That's a large area. No reason it wouldn't work.

Sotz double barrel stove. 250'000 btu. The company closed but you can find them used fairly cheap. The Sotz is the best one. The others sont work worth a crap. There was an Amish guy copying them and selling them new. I think he was in Pennsylvania but not sure. I saw a few YouTube bids of greenhouses with them and I think one guy even added secondary burners. Sotz did offer an add on catalytic combustor but kind of hard to find those. They do still sell news replacement elements foe them oddly.

I have to chime in on the propane stove use. If it exhausts directly into the greenhouse the added CO2 will improve your plant growth. Not sure about wood exhaust. Enclosed spaces become depleted of CO2, a key ingredient of photosynthesis. Adding it is like super charging your garden!
