Decided to drag the extra ADV 2 T out and get a fire stuffed in it and check it out while the weather is nice. Here is a piccy of both the Whits side by side. Definitely a family resemblance
Amazing how much difference in the size of these two units. We have the identical pair running in the house. The big Whit on the left is about 2000 stoves newer than the one in the house, and the little one on the right is about 2000 stoves older than the one in the house. Still looking for another little one that might be newer than ours in the house. The big guy checked out really well. The new draft fan motor with ball bearings really works swell. Not really sure if the SUPER sized fan blade is/was necessary. I had to tweak the pot on the draft fan speed a touch to get things in the groove. The fire grate is burned out a bit in the center and on low the fire tends to fall through too much and nearly goes out. Tomorrow I am going to make a stainless steel plate to fit in the grate with rows of holes that will keep the glowing coals in the pot rather than in the ash pan. I did this on the big Whit upstairs to keep the shells from falling through. Far cheaper than a new pot.
Thanks These were more of the $200 variety I like to buy off Craig's List The big guy arrived with a half bag of pellets in the mechanical cabinet ??????????? Could not really see where they came from until today when it was under fire. I happened to be at the rear of the stove probing the draft fan connector with the DIGITAL VOM and a pellet flew out around the base of the auger tube and hit me in the face Ahh hah There is an area at the base of the tube where the drive motor bracket bolts on that is sealed up with silicone, and there was a neat little hole in the silicone. NOT ANY MORE Got out the tube of goop and slobbered a dollop on over the original area. That should do it fine. Not sure why they did that at the factory level, but oh well The other stove has it too. Very happy with these two, just wish I had a place in the house to give them a job.
