Thx for all your reply's. It a down tree not in anyone way. I could get better, ash, maple, cherry,or throned locust. Just wonder if it was worth it? So you rock in saving me time and effort.
90' 2.5 feet diam. at base. wish it was an oak. Hate to this have this as near value of Cottonwood. What a waste.
I'm glad that we had 1.8 cord of Hemlock & Pine ready for this years heating season, it's been a cold winter so it saved us from burning some better wood early, if you have the room, why not. You can always mix it with some better wood.
http://www.chimneysweeponline.com/howood.htm great for BTU ratings http://thelograck.com/firewood_rating_chart.html gives more info about difficulty to split etc.
If it were me, I'd go for the cherry first. But that does not mean sycamore is not good wood; just tough splitting.
I won't go for it (sycamore) Since I can procure other better types of wood. Again THX for all your input on Sycamore.
