just went on line the check out if South Shore Wood Pellet Co. had lowered their prices any further. they have locked the doors as of today. don't know if it was general business or a bank closing. sign of the times I guess. tough to compete with the big guys.
Hi Doug, I just did a google search of South Shore Wood Pellet Co. The website no longer operates. Can you tell us a little about the company?
There web site is gone so I guess thats it.There prices were always on the high side so it doesn't surprise me to much.
i suspect, from looking at the building they were in that they could not make the rent in this market climate.
they were in a fairly large space, makes since for that business. most years I only would buy a ton/year of brick. found his price on those to be competitive. don't know about pellets and if he would make bulk deals. canawick, which he carried and I really liked, was always running out. rent, pricing, warm winter are probably all involved.
Bummer, Hate to see this. Its gonna be tough on many until this chit blows over. Got a feeling its not going to be the last.
Agreed, hopefully my locals put some profits in the rainey day fund to get them through the next season or so.
That's a shame. We wish them the best of luck. And hope those that have managed to stay afloat (both pellet shops and mills) can ride out this storm.
TSC dropped their price to $3.99/bag on or around March 3rd. As of this morning they are back up to the $4.99 price around here.
Funny thing. Crazy maybe. Yesterday (Sunday) was the busiest Sunday in ages here... Calls coming in like crazy.... All the BBS were out... and people were looking for pellets!! Fearing the cold snap, or whatever... This is one unpredictable business......... Dan
They could have gone to Wally World - they got those Pennington's still for $5.59/bag (as of last Thursday anyway)
