Inspect your install? Why? As long as you follow the manual, you won't void the warranty. Oh, and I AM a dealer.

Or, call another dealer and simply be honest. Why complicate matters?

True....changeout programs usually DO NOT allow for self installs.

Almost 100%correct. The dealer is obligated to perform WARRANTY repair work. The dealer does not have to do out of warranty repair work.

I wouldn't sign ANY waiver crapola. Although I do understand some charge for a house call to set draft, check your work, etc.

Well, I don't agree here. I see the warranty work all the time. Bad part? It happens.

I have all the stuff. Even if I have to relocate the pipe it has to go thru the roof and per roof warranty nobody can touch the roof but a g.a.f contractor. 650 for delivery, plugin, trim kit and test? I dont think so

yea, agreed- that's steep, if no parts are used. We charge $99 per installation for labor......I must be doing something wrong! :faint:

ALTHOUGH, I don't like installing into old pipe.....too many unknowns, and having to deal with old pipe...no thanks. MOST of the time, we wont install into the same old chit that the old stove had. Old pipe leaks, gaskets can be hard, etc. It costs too much to have to do callbacks be cause "I smell smoke.."

Now, if you have your own new pipe, that's different!

Should have mentioned, that was the same thing here with the P43 changout deal. $500 install, no parts included. They dropped it on the hearth, connected the pipe to it, no sealant or anything. $500 bang, cha-ching! LOL gotta love this chit. No I don't.

We laugh about stuff like that, but I bet it happens more often than you would think. Heck not too long ago there was a video floating around here of a guy who vented his stove out a second floor window! I suspect your dealer is protecting himself from customers doing something like that and then trying to come back to him afterwards if something bad happens.

You don't have to tell me! That's just the way it works with these changout programs. On the bright side, I got $2K off a brand new P43, so it was worth it in the end. That's a lot of cake to save for other things.

Because the warranty is only valid with the selling dealer... another scam.
