Invite Larry to come hang with us or maybe a staff member. We have a few peeps here that are willing to review his stuff, But not able to find them in our area's........................
Interesting comment-the Corinth's I have were from spring of 2014 when I bought a ton. I didnt burn any of them until the end of the burning season. I still have about 15 bags buried near the bottom in my basement stacks. I tried a few bags of IG this year to try out but that was in the early part of the season so I really couldnt get a good read on cold weather time but they seemed fine to me-although definitely no Lacrete performance. Corinth would be shoulder pellets for me. How about the Crabbe?
I have been buying my bulk from Dave since 2010-he is a stand up guy who takes care of his customers.
I haven't burned any of them. From what I hear about them, they're not in the same class as the Lacrete and Spruce Pointe. But that was a couple of years ago, so I could be wrong.
Great Works BioFuels Same place I posted the spring buy from-not sure how far he delivers, but if interested in the Lacrete/SP pricing, give him a call. His new storage location is in Sanford-I think
I spoke with Dave about a month ago and he said that the Crabbe were getting great comments from his customers and might be this years price/performance pellet. But I havnt tried them yet either
Yes, that would be great to see more of Larry. He is a really nice guy on the phone. A true woodsman. Regarding the IG mentioned above, (I assume IG stands for Inferno Gold, my pellet size brain is still learning the acronymns)) a reliable source at Corinth said that he doses supply Corinth 80% SW/20% HW to International Forest Products but does not know what BBS stores gets the repackaged Corinth 80/20. It is likely that the Inferno Gold is a different product in each geographic area. At this point, we just do not know much about the Inferno Golds. Makes it risky to purchase more than a dozen bags at a time. And for us to describe the Inferno Gold, we would have to carefully state where it was purchased. In other words, Inferno Gold is likely different in every state, probably different every season. The source told me that IFP does not sign contracts. That tells me that IFP changes supplier mills often, probably which mill has the lowest price.
David has delivered as far South as Newmarket, NH. I get the impression that earlier in the Spring/Summer, David has more time and is willing to deliver at a greater distance. August on, not as likely.
He has 2-3 other customers around here. That in mind, he waits until we all order and does the delivery at the same time which lowers the deliver charge compared to traveling here for 1 delivery.
Never thought they would go as they did....... Got only a few tons at first just to see how they would go... they just took off.. What a great product. Those that tried them were sold on them. Dan
Well, went by Lowes today in Rochester and all of those "sold" pellets are still sitting there behind the store. Many look like they are deteriorating nicely.
I have heard, and not able to confirm that some of the HD's in CT are getting suppliers to pick up deteriorated product ( under the guise it was inferior bagging and not taking any responsibility for leaving it outside) and having them credit them back and then the suppliers have to dispose the damaged bags. OUCH! Very expensive!
It's not the first time they've pulled that crap. Mills make their bed when they continue to deal with them.
