Nice area, pinyon pine is a great firewood, have had complements from neighbors when use the fireplace about the fantastic aroma it creates. Unfortunately nothing to mention In las Vegas as far as trees to take down I have it brought from utah
That's nice Bert that you can cut in an old burn and it looks like good wood too. Many from out east will love the view of the mountains too so never hesitate to post more.
The fire was caused by a lightning strike about ten years ago and burnt about forty thousand acres. The wood is real nice and it's dry and the bark is burned off. Most of the wood that I burn is Pinion pine, I did go over by Placerville, Ca last weekend and cut a cord of Live Oak, I'm not doing that again Wow! that oak is real heavy.......We saw a heard of about fifty Mule deer there this morning....... I'll be back at it again this next weekend.
Nice place to cut & good cutting temperature too Your area get a good snow pack in the mtns? Heard that some to the N. Cal mtns got lots of snow, "Elnino~" is good for something .
Yeah. That's a beautiful area. Iirc, my wife and I had dinner in Placereville a few months or so after the fire you mentioned. You could still smell the smoke in the air.
