Well my "last fire" has been burning for a good month now, and I keep getting "a little" more wood from the "official firewood processing & storage area"  every few days because "it's going to warm up"
Now, next week we're going to have highs in the 30's with a few 14-15 degree nights with 2 chances for snow. WTH?
Oh, and the ticks are outo_O. I'm not complaining, it's just been a weird winter and seems to just get more weirderer!

Yep it is snowing pretty good here today. This week end will be back up to 50's and 60's. Kind of strange.

Been thinking the same darn thing. All I do is keep shoving wood in the furnace and watching my not so deplensished stacks disappear.

I don't know yet it has not stopped. But it does look like it is winding down now. The wind is just blowing it all over the place so it is hard to tell. Not like last week when we had that blizzard come through here and dump about 15" worth. I still have a 4 foot drift in front of the house from that blizzard. I would say maybe 6" worth today. I will see tonight on the local news what they say.

Still lots of cold left in this winter.
Good news is that the slushy type snow that is supposed to come overnight may be east of us instead of a direct hit. Morning will tell.

You know what the say Wildwest that the month that usually gets the most snow is March. Some of the worse blizzards around here sometimes happen in April.

Born/raised, and 40+ years in the Colorado banana belt, the wind up here brings a totally new reality to me for snow storms. After the power went out last night and WWW got the generator warmed up and was hooking it up, the power came back on. Stay safe:) And all of you out east from us too, I heard the storm is heading in your direction, take precautions and stay safe too.

I have a wood bin by the back door that holds not quite a week's supply of wood.
Instead of filling it just to have to un-fill it to move it like I do every Spring I've been grabbing a milk crate or two of wood just to have a quick fire in the AM, sometimes start a fire supper time if it is a little chilly.
I'm just gonna fill it to the brim tomorrow.
Maybe the cold weather that's supposed to vortex down from Canada in a couple of days won't get here if I do.

The only drawback of the power going out here would be having to hand bail the sump pump crock.

Then maybe she would say, "Yes, a bigger wood stove in the basement is a good idea!"

Yep we lost power for about 16 hours last week from that blizzard. Thanks goodness for wood burning stoves. Heat and something to cook on. We also melted snow on the stove to flush the toilet being on a well and no power.
