We came home today to a very cold house It wasnt for lack of a fire either the stove was rolling along nicely but apparently I left the back door unlocked and the wind blew it open and then Im guessing the kitchen door got blown open probably some kind of low pressure thing or some evil plot by the wind to cool my house down either way it was cold in here with a fire going and that sucked
That has happened to me a couple of times and it sucks. My first reaction was somebody is in my house, then I realized it was old man winter. I wish it would of happened during the spring or fall instead of winter though.
Yeah when we got home I could see through the garage window that the door was open and I just thought oh well I must have left it open no big deal but then when we got to the door we were greeted by the dogs and I thought o chit theres someone in my house theres no way that they could have gotten out into the garage. Thankfully Im pretty sure it was just the wind.
Been there done that! Dont know ic you read my post but My front door blew open about a week ago when it was -11 outside. I woke up to a house temp of 35 degrees so I feel your pain! Sorry that happened
I hadnt seen that post but damm man I feel you on that. Thankfully it was only for a couple hours today and it was in the mid 30s not -11
Yeah it sucked, took all day to get the house heat soaked again. When I walked down the stairs and saw my door wide open the first thing I thought was I was being robbed. Luckily I wasn't.....lol Did you get the house warmed back up yet? I know the air temps can come up fairly quickly but sometimes it takes a bit to get everything warmed back up.
Yep were toasty warm again it took a few hours but it wasnt to bad Ill have to make sure I turn the deadbolt on that door from now on to prevent this from happening again.
Thats the same reaction I get when my kids walk out or into the house and dont close the door. Im like the cranky old man yelling at them.
We have a door that pops open from time to time. That because I forget to pull on it after it is shut. But no so bad because it opens to the glassed in porch. Isn't heated out there but not nearly as bad as the weather outside. I have a dead bolt on that and all the others, but to think to use them!!!
Been there, done that, fellas! Sometimes you got to experience the situation to learn from it! One of my peeves is when the kids come in the house and LEAVE the door open......it don't take long before me or the boss feel the frigid draft and chew the kids out!
