Got a chance to get out and do some milling on sunday. Going to put together a playground for my daughter and figured I would just mill my own lumber since we had a few cedar trees on the property. Made a 6x4, four 4x4s and a handful of 2x4s out of a small cedar. Everybody had fun!
Glad they had fun! You must not have had the 50mph winds we did up here I guess? Or maybe that's what the helmet is for
We did have the bad wind, they stayed out of the woods. I always wear the helmet as the screen helps keep stuff out of my eyes and face when I am milling. The bandsaw can throw some serious chunks of bark sometimes. Plus the helmet has hearing protection. I lost a lot of my hearing in my left ear when I was younger so I try to be diligent and wear it now.
Grumble! Mumble! All you guys posting pics of no snow in the yard...not wearing jackets...and lets not forget the bandsaw mill!! Man O man! Is that mill a 10? How do you like it? (Really nice!)
It was 65 here on sunday, so no snow at all and actually pretty hot! Its a LT15 and its great. I have no complaints about it yet. We had a 30" dia oak log on it the other day and sliced it right up. We can cut about 150 bd ft an hour on it pretty easily and we are amateurs at best lol.
And you don't know how glad you are that I'm not close enough to "help out" all the time!! (Oh...Him again?)
Sure is fun making sawdust fly isn't it ? I'm not a bandsaw guy, but I really like the way they saw. You have a good looking setup and a better looking family. Take care of the little one, they get big really fast. Sunday was near 75 here in Missouri....oh...and yooperdave the sun was so bright and shiny a fella couldn't hardly stand it !!!!
Update: Heres the cedar beams on the a-frame for the swing and main beam as well as two beams for the monkey bars on the right. The rest is uninteresting pressure treated lumber lol.
