We are having a bit of a snowstorm here with some high winds and the power is kicking off and on regularly. I have the Omega plugged into a Cyberpower CPU but its pretty old. The first time the power went off all I could hear was the exhaust fan blowing and it was barely keeping up as the flame got very orange and lazy. I shut the stove down and it didn't activate the agitator like it normally does. I kicked the stove back on and it started feeding non stop with no agitator. I shut it back off and the agitator kicked on. I started it again and no pellet feed. I just unplugged it after that and kicked on the Harmless. I'm kind of wondering where to start troubleshooting with this thing?
Can the CyberPower unit be on the small side for the stove? Seems to be powering a bit at a time but not all together. ....
I'm apt to blame the early revision control board. Mine was flukey at times until it was replaced. Or could be the Cyberpower is just not enough for the ol beast?? Wait to see how it acts once power is restored??
I tried again and its acting pretty wacky. When I put it I shut down mode the agitator ran slower then it usually does and after a while it kicked itself back on.
yeh it probably is weak. It is pure sine but tbh my other stove a little funny on it too but not quite this bad.
Has grid power come back on and if so how is the stove running now. If still acting up, I agree with J that it may be control board time.
Hi, yes its back on and working as it always has, which never did impress me. The stove is nice, built well, good looking but I'm afraid it doesn't hold a candle to the stove it replaced. In order to get the same heat I was getting with my 3650 it blows through pellets. I'm considering selling it if I can't get it to perform more efficiently. I really love the big hopper and not having to dump the burn pot every day, but this comes with a price. It's costing me about $300 a month. That's about $100 more then I was spending using the Cumberland. So it seems my effort to upgrade to a better stove has been an exercise in futility. I must need to tweek it but not sure how. Apologies fir the negativity but I'm a little discouraged today as I dump my last three bags of Somersets into the hopper this morning from a ton that was scheduled to last through March with my 3650. Probably even longer with the mild winter we have had.
I havent got a gauge. Will that make much of a difference? It looks like a good flame. It's not lazy nor are the black tips. The stove pipe isn't too hot so I don't think its over drafting.
Where are you located? I've long been looking for an Omega! They are a great stove when tuned right. jtakeman stove heats his house on less fuel than my Fahrenheit Endurance furnace can. I'd be willing to trade you a fancy high end Enerzone Eurostar stove for yours
I'm from Illinois. I'm going through nearly 2 bags a day in thus shoulder season. I went ahead and switched over to the Harmless. Down to 1 bag a day with it.
