very nice, about twenty years ago we built an old English replica hunting lodge for a customer and all the guys that worked on it carved their initials on top of one of the old timber trusses. someday someone will find them, never did tell the owner he would of not been happy

What a great story Stinny, the "new" owners sound like great people just like you and your family.

What a great keepsake. I am glad you were still able to get it after all these years.

That was quite the stash of alder they had.

Went and copied/pasted the 1964 b&w pic of the farm... the board came from just inside (to the left) the big open door in the barn...

I'd like to say I knew these initials were on the board... but I didn't. I just found my mother's maiden name initials on the board today, along with my father's... and an old friend from over 40 years ago too. Most of them though will take some research, for sure, and I may never know all of them.

 ... that was therapy Fess... ;) Nope... my old camera is still doing fine... for some reason, when I go from the FHC to retrieve a photo to post it, I now "land" in my photos file OK, but it's only showing me about 6-8 pics at a time with no way to figure out where to find others. I've tried to re-set the format and... nothing. I've got well over 8000 photos in there. Ugh. It's just easier to launch em to m'ole buddy wildwest and she's happy to put em up for me. I'll eventually trip and fall over backwards into finding out how to get my pics some day, I'm sure... :picard:

I don't know if this helps but would the land titles office be able to tell you who owned the land at different times to give you an idea of what initials belong to who?

It might... and, I have another source that may prove to be a good reason to research... my great great grandfather's, and his son's journals. We have about 15-20 of them, each covers a year's worth of bartering and folks who helped with projects, or just things that have happened. Lotta fun back when I first discovered them about 12 years ago.

Thats pretty cool stinny! I have an old barn on my property that is well over 100 years old I would love to find something like that in it and be able to share it with the previous family.
