It's truly amazing the ways we find to muck ourselves up. Hope you heal up quickly and as painlessly as possible.

I see what you did there!  .
On a serious note, sorry you busted your thumb splitn. Accidents will and can happen when we least expect it. I was hand splittin last night before dark and just plain wore myself out. Started making stupid mistakes and noticed it. I threw in the towel and headed for the house. Hope you heal up quick!

I'm lovin the thumb puns, keep em commin fellers!:wacky:
Ash watcher..I honestly have only ever used one other splitter before, a North Star 20 ton that my buddy let me borrow last year for a weekend. It definately did the job, however... My wife blind sided me with this one so I didn't really care what brand she got, she knew that I had my eye on the dht though.:D

The thumb pun was unintentional, I promise:smoke:...what engine came on your DHT? Briggs or Subaru? I'd be walking on a cloud if my SO came through with something I could really use for our obsession...congrats!

Ashwatcher, the DHT actually came with a Kohler engine. I don't know a whole lot about the Kohler engines but I've read a lot of good things about em, we shall see. My pressure washer has a Subaru engine and I've put that thing through hades and back and it still runs as strong as ever.

And yes, I was certainly walkin on the clouds when I got home to find she got me a splitter! I honestly think she was just tired of hearing me whine about not having one, but hey, whatever works .

On a different note, my workload just got a lot bigger! Digging/clearing of the new sewer project has commenced in my little town and they are cutting literally everything down in the right of way. My grandma called me last night and asked me to come over to her house, she said she had something she had to show me.. I wasn't expecting all of this! image.jpg there are 7 in all 4 spruce and 3 scots pine.we have two weeks to take care of this mess or they haul it away. I have many friends with OWBs so I had zero trouble finding homes for these giant spruces.(I may keep a cord or so) They also took down two big sugar maples, didn't get pics of them yet, but I surely will.:)

Kohler is a wonderful engine, had one in a '89 Wheelhorse lawn tractor and it's still running like a top for the guy I sold it to a couple years ago---they have cast iron sleeve cylinders and it took the dealer awhile to convince me to accept any other engine when I upgraded to commercial 52" Toro Zero-Turn w/Kawasaki engine-You've got a good one and I'd sprint for the sugar maples...
