Anyone down to their last burn yet? We've been getting high 70s during the day and 40's at night the last week. It has been about a week since my last fire and I'm waking up to a 70 degree house. Climbs to 72 during the day. Thermal mass doing its job.

Next week looks like it might be a little cooler, so I might have an ambiance fire or two, but we'll be traveling at the end of March/beginning of April so no fires then. At that point it is time to start at least thinking about cooling the mass down in anticipation of summer (managed to go until June 15 last year before engaging A/C) so it is entirely possible that I've already had my last fire of the season. Hard to believe.

Just a little over 1 cord for the year.

No such thing as a last burn here, when I get chilly I make fire.
Air conditioner only comes on when I'm down to my underwear and I'm still to hot, I prefer to have windows open with outside air.

Bert, we haven't even gotten to April yet so we certainly are a long ways from a last fire here. In fact, I just started a fire in the stove! It is getting cool in the house (down to 70 already). So, we'll warm it up just a bit then probably throw a couple splits in before going to bed. We also have several nights of freezing weather coming up right after this next bunch of rain. It isn't really cold out there now, in low 40's, but damp so we'll keep the dampness out and be comfortable.

Normally we will burn a few nights in early May, I doubt we're done yet.

Going down to overnite lows in the 30's by Sunday(30F), 40-50's daytime. After past week topping out in the 70's daily highs, with perennials popping up and things leafing up, this is gonna be a little rewind!
Honey, can you load in some wood please?
    :fire:

I've seen more than a few springs that involved a warm March and cool April, followed by a cold and damp May. I'll bet our final fire will be before flag day though, LOL.:D

It's gonna be 10*-11* here on Friday & Saturday nights. No chance of shutting down any time soon! Shoot, it's still March...we could still get 2 feet of snow yet! :hair:

Right where I want to be.
We're due for some lows in the low teens late this week.
I always plan to burn at least through the middle of May.
    Not done.

We haven't burned for about a week but Thurs and Fri look to be in the 20s at night low 40s during the day with snow possible so I bet we fire up again. :)

Fat lady is still in the dressing room.
    Snow in the forecast Sat/Sun.
Just refired a bit ago. No where near done. I may even have to refill the wood room. May be a facecord in there. Don't think its enough till the end of May although fires ay be few by then.

Oh yeah, I've been having my "last burn" now going on 3 weeks. Every 2nd or 3rd day is my last burn with these crazy up and down temps.:headbang:

We in this house, agree with you on that! That wood fire will stop, but not for long and never is considered the last one. The season for burning is always here. Sometimes it is a burn in an outside firepit. Something very calming about it. I always want to be able to turn the TV off and look at the flames. At some point I'll be joining the flame, but for now, I am enjoying the heat and ambiance.

Cold coming in for the weekend so not done here. Probably won't be many round the clock fires but I think far from done, besides I have 3/4 of a cord of wood on the patio I'd just as soon burn as move back to the stacks.

Storms??! (I guess I should watch the news sometimes.)

Nothing significant here in the last month or so. It has been a wet March so far though.
