So, I'm here to introduce myself... I cut wood for fun and relaxation. I use it for campfires, camping trips and I burn a 2-barrel furnace in my barn in the winter but I don't heat the house with it. I have an appreciation for great tools and I love seeing them perform at their best. I've been a Stihl guy since 2003 when my big box saw crapped out and I finally broke down and bought a worthwhile product. I recently came across a thread by MasterTech where he was conducting a shootout with different sprockets and chains on his 261. I'm getting ready to set up the same saw and I found it so informative that I thought I might as well pull up a seat and join the party. Just wanted to jump in and say "hi." I've already learned a lot reading here. If I get lucky I might even have something to add as time goes on.
Welcome Gill ... every single hoarder on the FHC site knows the "noob" experience... been there. Remember, we all love photos...
I hear it's an amazing saw. I hope to have some first hand knowledge soon!! I'm planning to step up from my 270c. Thanks, I plan to have some interesting photos to share soon.
Hey Gill? What took you so long to find the greatest forum......ANYWHERE Glad ya joined the fun- share what you know, ask about anything- tons of great info from the best folks around
Very close. Chainsaw Acquisition Disorder. Learn it, love it, live it. Seriously though, you will see lots and lots of pictures of nice saws here. Go ahead and start developing a 2 and 3 saw plan. I'm on the 3 saw plan.....but I have 4 saws somehow?
Thanks for the warm welcome, folks. This is going to be fun. My wife doesn't want to hear chainsaw or wood shanty stories so she'll be as happy I'm here as I am.
Welcome, Gill. I have many fond memories of my time in Indiana, and most of my family are still there. I think having a place to share stories is almost as valuable as the knowledge you will get out of these folks. I know that my wife, too, is happy that I found this site. Enjoy!
Welcome aboard! Might as well give you something to aspire to, this is one side of my garage. Most selves are stacked 3 deep. Some bars and chains...
