That was my 15th pick up load out of this lot with mostly hickory, ash and oak. Im clearing for my friend to build a house. Im trying to talk him into saving the cedar but for now he wants it out to. I figure each load is about 1/3 chord. But not sure.
Stocking up for the OWB I see. Hope you get the heat exchanger for the pool figured out before cold weather.... Cedar is awesome kindling. I saw it shorrrrrrt so its easy to split with a hatchet with all the knots. I keep a wooden dynamite box stacked full with it all winter sitting right next to the furnace. Ya done good sir.
Nice looking load of red oak There were several cedars around my house when I bought it, but I cut them as they had encroached too much. If they have any size you might find someone local on c-list looking for mantle blanks, or general hobby woodworkers - otherwise it makes sweet kidling
I may try to cut up the cedar for boards with my chain saw. I'm intrigued with using a guide to cut with. Something that would slide along a frame on top of the log. I saw one on u-tube that really looks simple to use but I haven't checked into it much. I know I would at least need to buy a guide and a different kind of chain.
Thanks! Yep, probably a fall project to get the heat exchanger going for the pool. I do similar to you. I always have some cedar kindling bundled and ready to go for the fire pit. If I make logs from that tree I will use whats left to split up. Im always running into cedar to cut.
