Need a little help guys, getting ready to order a metric chit ton of coated lead bullets from Ibejiheads.com problem is i dont know what diameter to get for reloading .45ACP and 9mm. I know the best answer is to slug the gun and go from there but the batch of bullets will be used in 4 different .45's and at least 3 different 9mm's. Is there a good size for each that will run in them all? Its mostly going to be for plinking.....

For the 9mm you would typically be looking for .356 in a lead bullet and .355 for jacketed. For the .45 (if it will only be used in loading .45 ACP) you would typically be looking for .452 in lead and .451 jacketed. I would suggest that if you haven't tried loading Semi Wadcutter profiles in the guns, you may want to confirm the guns will feed them before ordering a couple of thousand bullets. Some 1911s are real particular about bullet profile and prefer round nose and other models will feed empty cases. If that is an issue, it is probably best worked out over at The Firing Line.

Load coated bullets the same specs. Get them the same size as your hard cast. And yest hard cast should be .001 or .002 larger than FMJ or bore.

Undersized bullets won't seal and bounce down the barrel and tumble when in air.

I have a 9mm hi point that must have a sloppy barrel. When I load bullets that shoot in others 9mm they bounce down the barrel and tumble when come out. I need to slug it with some 000 buckshot to see its diameter. But it would not shoot those cast bullets worth a darn

Have you used that jihead site yet? I always use lucky13. There a few dollars cheaper and you can always find a 5% coupon as well.

Lucky13 is a few dollars cheaper per box but if I can't get them it does me no good. Why did you go with .358 for .38 and not .357..just curious? Sloppy bore?

Yea I went and looked back at my Lyman cast least reloading book and saw it as well.

I think the ones I'm shooting now are .357 and they shoot fine.

I got my ibejiheads 9mm in yesterday. I am not impressed with their "coated bullets" . I can scrape the coating off with my nail on the edge if I push hard and the case shaves some off. The zombie 13 bullets never have this happen and the coating seems thicker and more well bonded too. I will wait the extra time in the future and there a few dollars cheaper as well.

If yall haven't tried them BUY z13 bullets. He quit listing the rounds he did not have in stock or too far behind on as he was tired of running too fat behind.
