Had some more fun in the back yard this morning. Cut three dead standing red oaks then split and stacked them. Came out to just about a half cord. This is the two smaller ones. Start bucking @ 16" All bucked now for that long ride back to the house. :stacke:
Looks like you have a tree graffiti artist running around the neighborhood... (says the guy sitting in his recliner that hasn't run a saw in months) Nice work
I am lucky enough to have a wife that let me build our retirement house in the woods get all the tools( toys) I need to maintain the property and the forest. Cnice-37 I see you are in my area if you ever need a place to cut just give me a shout. Greg
No artist I grow them that way with green dots every 16". Makes it easy to buck that way. The hard part was getting the paint to show and let me know when the tree is ready.
Your dead oak adventure went better than mine. Started dropping a dead white oak behind the garage wind picked up on my back cut got the bar out in time but it decided to hangup in an adjacent white oak
Ahh, yes the much fabled Green Dot Oak...didn't recognize it...never seen an actual picture of one before!
They aren't native to the US. I have seen some in the woods here in Ohio though...when we were out shootin
You are right, the British brought them over back in colonial times. The patriots got rid of most of them.......... when they were out shooting.
