Got this load this morning before me lady went to work....damm osage dulls chains faster than anything, so I cut walnut first.....anyway her is some of what I got today, and then some of my pile at home...

I know people have bigger pile than me, but I work full time, and got a great woman and a 8 month old little girl, to keep me busy, so it ain't a bad pile.....I stay busy.... Kyle

Will you stack it? Seems like it will rot if you leave it piled like that for a few years. Mine would

It's no competition, my friend. And those are some fine lookin piles of wood if'n I do say so myself! I've burned a bit of walnut, wasn't my favorite but it was free. Osage orange on the other hand I have never burned, I have never even seen it to be honest. I burn a Ton of black locust though, which I hear is very similar.

Like Splitsnstacks said, this ain't a competition, except against drying times/MC/readiness....
Otherwise, that is an impressive pile IME:binoculars::thumbs:

image.jpg Wow guys just had a chance to get back in here. And wow thanks for the replies....and yes sir, Clemson, I will be splitting and stackin very soon for sure, you are absolutely right walnut will rot if not tended to and faster than most other woods IMO.... I have an oak, ash, and walnut piles now that are green.... My seasoned wood is actually tarped and behind the wood pictured....

Split stack, LOL, ya that is a Hawkins boiler I have had 3 years now, and I can't complain about her.... My water is as hot as I want and house is 73-72 weather it's 30 or -15.....

And I you guys that haven't experienced cutting Osage, you really do have to cut it your self to see how damm hard it is LOL...it is a lot like locust, but maybe even a hair harder????

Thanks for all your replies in general guys I seriously look forward to seeing what new in this site, when I ain't cuttin lol....thanks a lot Kyle!!!!!!!

LMAO it really is... Great wood but it is so darn hard....I don't run into that much Osage but down were I cutting up these 90 tops by the river, there is a lot Osage.... Usually there isn't much maybe a half load, if lucky a full load here and there... I tell ya you can find a log jam and all the other woods can be mushy, and when you cut Into that Osage you instantly know by the yellow sawdust it throws and how hard it is lol... I will take a pic of a Osage tree and a freshly cut piece so you guys that don't have it locally can check it out.... Very pretty yellow/ orange colored wood.... The Indians used to make bows from it, and some guys still do....Kyle

I need to keep a good semi chisel chain that I grind to something like 28° maybe and see what it does..and have one at 30°as well. I usually use full chisel at 30° so that I know dulls faster as well.

You know I always use the RM non-safety chains clemson.....since I cut stuff that is usually on the ground I just have always used the RM chains... I can sharpen them fairly quickly with the stihl round file and angle tool in one.... My question would be do the full chisel chains dull that much faster, and are do they take longer to sharpen than the RM chains.... I will definitely buy a full chisel to try sometime, but I guess I just have a method that works good for me right now....thanks Kyle

They say full chisel dull faster. I have never run any in 3/8 on my main saws but on my small saws I have some semi chains and they do seem to stay sharp longer than if they were full chisel.

No they don't take any longer to sharpen, Its the same round file, I'm almost positive it's the same size but I know it's still a round file.

Not talking square filed here which I think is RSF??
