I've been wanting one of these for a while now. I have quite a few nasty widow makers out back whose days are now numbered... I shot it off a few times in the back yard tonight - it launches that little bag pretty good. I picked up a leather wedge pouch and a nice heavy duty 50' loggers tape too. I've been measuring all my cuts lately, and my old 25' Home Depot tape finally bit the dust. The wedge pouch will be nice when I'm using the chainsaw mill - have a couple on my hip instead of underneath the pile of sawdust somewhere...
Cool Shawn. I've tried tying a string to a 3/4" nut. Works but not very high or accurate. Your rig looks pretty slick... I agree... need a video of that.
Yeah I've tried using a couple of big washers. I got pretty good at almost hitting myself on the head with them - but my target, not so much. I'll try to get a video up this weekend.
Dang! I'm missing out on some fun stuff there. I can only cut "down" wood on the neighboring property. Probably just as well, I might be dangerous with something like that in my hands. Count me in with the group that would like to see a video of that thing in action. I didn't even know such tools existed until reading this post.
Not that it applies here, but I've seen an electric utility crew run a string to replace a downed wire across a river using a rocket launcher.
A dog training dummy launcher works good too. Bailing twine in a 5 gallon pail with lid makes great messager line. A red blank cartridge will launch that sucker a country mile...
Very nice. I've been using a Harbor Freight sling shot with masons twine and a 1 1/2 to 2 oz lead sinker. Air power would be nice.
APTA... Spring clips on throwline... Throwline bucket made from plastic coffee can... One end clipped at bottom of bucket, other to lid... keeps them handy... Dacron rope loop lets me clip it to climbing harness or to a belt loop if I'm just after widow makers.
