Would a 311 engine be a direct swap into a 290? I know a guy that has a 290 and he said a dealer has a 311 that a tree feel on. The engine is okay and he can buy it for $75. I don't know if he is going to buy it or not but I told him I did not think it would work since their are different saws. He said this guy is a dealer and should know. I'm not sure he that the swap would be worth it, IDK if he would gain that much power.

The 290, 310, and 390 were all 1127 series saws. I'm not sure that a 311 engine would be a direct drop in for a 290.

311 is a strato design. It's a completely different saw platform and won't swap over.

Yep won't work. But unless the 290 was blown up I wouldn't go to the trouble to put a 310 in it if you had access to a similar situation. Put a 390 if your going to do that.

I'm wondering how bad this 311 parts saw was messed up. He would probably be better off fixing it up. I think he was just talking anyway when he said he could get the 311 engine for $75, I doubt he would do it.

Yea 1127 parts are cheap esp since huztle makes them. Might be worth a look offer and fix it up if you want a 311 , oh wait that's not an 1127
