Couple pics from yesterday, had quite a few trees out there. I've been taking down a couple every weekend or days off during the week when the weather has been nice.
I used a sling shot with a 2 oz. lead sinker and masons twine to get the bull rope up to the crotch. Then I hooked up to the tractor and put some tension on the rope. I used the Dolmar 421 to fell it. The MS 171 to limb it and the MS 270 for bucking.

    Nice job...

I have a couple that I need to use a rope on also. You needed two people, one on the tractor and one with the saw?

    Just me.
It would be nice with two people.
About half of the trees were leaning towards the power lines. With the smaller ones I just backed the tractor up and got the rope nice and taught.
A couple of the larger ones I stopped the cut, went to the tractor and backed up more then finished the cut.

Sling shots are illegal here in NJ. No I'm not kidding. We are nanny state to the umpteenth level.

Thats crazy. Although you have to think there must have been some wing nuts out there shooting out peoples windows or something like that for them to make it a law. The saying the few wreck it for the many comes to mind....

From my understanding it was due to a mix up. There's actually something called a slung shot that they were trying to make illegal, and as the story goes it's was typed up incorrectly because the person preparing the paperwork thought slung shot was a typo and changed it. I've heard that story twice but it could be urban legend. Dicks sporting goods sells them though so go figure.

Also that line of thinking is dangerous when you say people must have broken a lot of windows to make them illegal. Breaking windows is already illegal, another law on top of that only hurts the normal law abiding citizen. I get your point though and it makes sense, the way I think nowadays has changed somewhat since I started getting involved with guns and recreational shooting. Don't get me started on the state of firearms ownership here in NJ. It's a friggen joke.
