Looking for advice on the best place to split the exhaust piping. I have a corner installed XXV and need to disconnect the vent and get full access behind the stove to deal with an auger motor issue. Looks to me like unbolting the flange from the stove and leaving it connected to the vent it the best course, but figured I'd ask the experts.

    Thanks, Rob

The back panel of my Harmon comes off without removing any pipe, and there's enough room to work on anything inside. Otherwise, take it off at the first connection after the bolts.

Yes I have done just what you described by removing the 3 bolts on the exhaust flange. If I remember correctly there is a gasket between the flange and the stove so if ordering other parts, add that gasket to your list.

Thanks! I will go the flange route with a new gasket. I can do all the normal cleanings with just the panels off, but the auger motor has come loose over time and really need to pull it away from the wall to get in there.

Problem solved. Went the flange route with a new gasket. The direct drive auger setup has a small support plate that has two machine screws into the body of the auger motor. One of those screws backed out completely causing it to bind up. Loctite and reinstall - back in business.

3 days later and the stove is off, and was 77 degrees in Boston on Wednesday. 3/9. Can you say Global Warming?

Forecast calls for 50s and 60s the next 5 days.....Here comes spring.
