Not burning anything since the start up fire this morning. Temp is 80 in here, so I cracked the window. Tinkering with dads chainsaw outside in a balmy and sunny 40 F, wearing a t-shirt.

The low for this area tonight is 12, the highs r getting higher and the lows r getting higher.

We have some Beech and Ironwood left if Mother Nature throws another cold shot at us.

I think winter is over for us except some ice coming in on Wednesday night, hopefully that changes.

Woke up around 3:30 by the wind that is blowing outside.
99 wants to go snow shoeing today and I'm leaning on not being in the woods during the wind. That's when mother nature does all her pruning....
But a bright sunny day and we are in the upper 20's now, heading for the upper 40's!!!!

Will hit 70 today so Im shutting down my OWB for the season. :loco:

Been burning whats left of some maple I cut last year. It cured very fast. Been burning oak, locust, cherry and hackberry.
Next year a large cash of 2 year white oak will be ready with some 1 year hickory mixed in. Cant wait for next winter. It will make the neighborhood smell like a bbq restaurant. :chef:

This weekend is likely the end of 24/7 burning here.
Extended forecast is indicating warmer and warmer nights so except for a couple days with no sun that might require a short fire or or oil boiler run to knock off the chill off in the AM this is it here.
Trying to get rid of the end of some punky oak and shorties.

Didn't even make a fire this morning.:( Hard to brag about cold weather when there is none lol. Actually been a mild year for us here though. Daytime temps for the next few weeks supposed to hang in a few degrees above freezing, nights around 22 F. Solar gains have the old cat and my pepper plant quite happy.

Yeah for us as well but according to my gas bill we have been one degree c colder than this time last year which isnt saying much. I went to bed early last night so the fir went to coals and no over night fire, first time in I dont know how long. We woke to a good little snow storm this morning and a cold house. Its amazing how loud a forced air furnace is when youre not used to it. Im heading out to a wet walk in the woods with the dog and will let the furnace do its job for a bit and then light up the stove in 2 or 3 hours.
