How would you cut a fuel oil tank in half?

Well, it's done. It's not perfect unless cutting in a curvy line is. But it is split, and I figure few if any will actually see it other than when I post the finished product installed. I did the water thing and only went through 3 blades on the sawzall . Not because they were dull, but because one broke, and the other two bent like Z's. Oooops. I also cut 4 notches, two in each half for where I'll be bolting a 2x4 treated wood frame. That will also help straighten out the bow on the sides of the tank. I also took the angle grinder and deburred the fresh cut edges. The total width of the tank was 28 inches.

As I promised, here is a picture of it. See, I DIDN'T blow myself up!:DI couldn't resize the picture like I usually do since it really distorted the lines. So hopefully it turns out better.

See, this is why I like this place. If you don't know or aren't sure how to do something there will be lots of usable information placed in front of you. I asked, and found out what I needed to do in order to get the job done safely. Even the right tools to use. All that is needed on my end is the willingness to learn and adapt.

There was a little fuel oil still left in the tank, and the sniff test verified I could have a big BOOM if I didn't follow what I had read here. The other tank will have to wait until I can find a use for the fuel oil, or at least find something big enough to store it in.

Eric VW , I did manage to get wet, but it was only from a little above my knees on down. With as warm as it was today, up in the mid 60's, it was okay. I didn't even bother changing into some dry cloths.

The next conundrum will be moving the assembly about 150 yards back to the spring head and settling tank on a rarely used path. I'm thinking I may need an extra serving or two of spinach and wheaties before attempting that.

It might be a while before the project is finished. I need to go to the lumber yard and pick up some treated lumber and maybe do a little more cutting on the tank. I need to compensate for the ridge of the holding/settling tank.

Of course, pictures or it didn't happen. Pictures of me? Well, in time. I do have some I could upload right now, but they are better than 6 years old and I don't generally take pictures of myself. It's bad enough I have to look at myself in the mirror! :faint: I know, here is a picture to give you a general idea of what I look like.
    me6.jpg

And we're not tough, some more soft and squishy than anything. Me I'm soft and squishy in all the right places, the rest is firm.:emb:

No, I don't look nearly that bad. That is just downright scary. I will say this, I must be reasonably attractive or I wouldn't have young men still trying to go out with me.

For sure take care of your dogs teeth. They are as important for their continued good health as peoples teeth are for theirs. I'm so glad you have an appreciation for the picture of whatever it is! o_O Never let it be said I don't have a sense of humor!

Phew! Thank you for clearing THAT up....... :whistle:
After all, I haven't read about you doing any Yoga, except maybe working with that partially filled oil tank- but you didn't say anything about stretching to any great degree.
