Processing the hickory trees that were dropped. The stacked section was done with some friends this weekend. Then I bucked and moved rounds during the week and got to some more splitting today. Replenishing the stacks! My helpers licking dirt and sawdust, they arent very much help... I know my area is a little messy! This hickory is heavy. Ol fiskars getting a workout Not a bad amount for a little over an hour of splitting, going to split more this weekend and get it stacked sunday hopefully!
Looks like you're well on your way. Do you mark your logs before bucking? Those 2 rounds look exactly the same length.
What kind of breed is your helper? The brown one. I hate to throw around the word cute, but I love wrinkles/wrinkle face on a dawg!
Looking good man, get er done :stacke: Dog looks like a boxer (edit, guess not) but he looks pizzed off
And look at that one tree that grew right inside of that tire!! Red dog looks like it has a lot of character!! (Another pic with absolutely no snow)
Manatee comes to mind A close family friend had a Neopolitan Mastiff(does that sound right? The dog died years ago) and he was a big Ol boy! But sweet and gentle-and slobbery
Now thats a cute face! No foolin.... I can tell she has character and probably has a proud poppa eh?! I could stare at that face and it would never get old. Tell me about this mingo marker gizmo. I measure and mark my cuts as well but I use a tape measure or a stick cut to 18 inches and the fat kids chalk.
I started marking logs to length this year. My measuring stick is an old Easton XX75 arrow cut to 16". I slide it into the side of my rubber boot while I am cutting, so it is always within reach. If i drop it, the bright fletchings make it easy to find.
Its just a little gadget someone came up with. Uses striping spray and a wheel to mark your firewood. I like it cause once I limb the tree or trees it takes no time at all to mark the entire thing.
Can anyone tell me if maple and hickory have similar drying times? Trying to plan out my stacks and what wood to go with what
No i wish we had snow. I love winter and snow just need to convince my wife to move somewhere out west!
