Get yourself the best saw you can afford, it will make your life a little easier as opposed to regretting not spending the extra buck. Long after your done buying your saw you're not going to remember what you paid for it, but if you buy a cheaper saw, you will be reminded of it every time you cut.

Unless I was really looking for a vintage saw like that.... Pass. If it was under $100, I might give it some thought. There are saws that cut faster, are "safer" to run and easier to get parts for. SOME things for the 041 are still available from Stihl.

The AV Super and 041G are much more valuable.

Jack, I recently was in the market for a new saw when my Husky 365s crapped out.
I did a bit of shopping around and became determined to go with a new Stihl, I ended up buying a MS660 mag and could not be happier, I got it with a 25" and bought a 18 as well.
**only complaint I have is the weight, at 16# it will wear on you after whipping it around for a few hours.
2 weeks after the 660 I purchased a ms192tc.....a 12" top handle, also love this saw for the small (4-10") stuff.

I am happy (so far) with my Husqvarna 460 rancher. Bogs a little on the big oak with the 24" bar if you push it, (was told I should go from 35* to 30* grind) but gets the job done for around $500.

Yes very much a Pro saw. 034 Super is an 036.l in disguise. Its 62 cc displacement, adj oiler. Much newer than an 041 AV.

If its in good condition? Then well worth the money. I'd offer $250 and go from there.

    Great saw...

In very good to excellent condition, that is more along the lines of what we are talking about! 62 cc, runs a 20" bar like it was made for no other. Def a saw you can run all day too. Almost all parts are availae from Stihl and there is a healthy aftermarket for 1125 series saws (034, 034S, 036, MS360) as well.

Price is about right. $250 or less is a great deal depending on condition. 034S is probably 15-20 years old.

Was Paul Bunyan a big dude? ;)

If its who I think it is? Then that is a good deal. He is a class act and you would be knowing that it is in proper running order.

I think he posted a poc in another thread. Its a very clean unit. :) If you dont want it??? LOL J/K Jack.
