Anybody else get out and cut? It was 70F here, which is about the maximium temp outside that I want to be running a saw.
Spencer How close to Evansville are you? One of my sisters lives down there and she called the other day telling me about a tree that fell just outside of her backyard. It took down part of her fence and a neighbors fence. She didn't know what kind of tree it was but she said it had what she calls "gum balls".
Im about 4 hrs away from Evansville. I imagine shes talking about a sweet gum tree? Has the spiney balls on it??
Great work, Spencer Quite the crew and set up I can't wait to get out and cut, no matter what the temp is
There arnt a lot around here either, but they are a very distinctive tree. Its amazing how much the forest changes as you move around the country. I used to go hunting up in Minocqua in northern Wisconsin and it was always completely foreign to me.
We were out cutting and splitting up the top of a red oak. There was quite a bit of fire wood in just the top alone.
I live a little north of Milwaukee, and have a cottage and hunting land in Tomahawk, real close to minocqua. It's so different from this area of the state, to where my land is up north. Go over to the Western part of Wisconsin and it's different yet again. Some states are pretty similar from one end to the other. Not so with this state. Yeah, I cut, hauled, and split this past weekend too. I wouldn't have if it was 70 though. I get too warm at 50 doing this kind of work.
Spencer were u in my woods?! Lol. It hit 70 here in Ohio too and it was too nice to get too serious about woodcutting so I did the same as u. Cut/split a gator load leisurely with family and friends. Mostly messed around in the woods with the boys enjoying the day!
Pretty country up in northern Wisconsin. I lived in Rhinelander when I was real young. After HS I worked at a girls camp outside of Eagle River. Good times back then.
