Kind of sloppy out this weekend with so much melting snow - so i ended up working inside. I've been meaning to build some clamp racks for a while now. I used a couple Home Depot pine boards I had kicking around. They weren't very straight though. I tried to cope with it as best I could but the joinery suffered quite a bit. I plan to add a few trim pieces to hide some of the gaps. I made a second one from a plywood remnant - much simpler design for this one. I tried to mimic the profile of the case sides for the support braces. The one with the shelf is hung from the floor joists on a custom cleat I made to get around the plumbing and ductwork. The other one is supported by some tabs that were left in the pre-fab concrete slabs in the basement walls. I made another cutting board too - used the offcuts from the other ones I made. I used an end grain orientation this time. It was splintering out pretty bad at the ends while I was planing it, so I chamfered the corners off first and that took care of it.
Hello. If you are interested in some 3-d cutting board plans, go to MTM woodworking on youtube. I have bought and built cutting boards off of his plans and they are spot on. you will have to use metric units of measure, my favourite, and follow the plans.
