What motor was that, the 2.5? Or the 2.0t gas? My 40v 4.2 v8 Audi uses about a quart in 10,000 miles.
A 2 stroke 4 stroke. Lol I did drive a trabant while I was in Germany in the early 90s. Fan cooled 500 cc twin 2 stroke. Premix, not even oil injected. You could buy premix at all gas stations in former East Germany.
Just rolling back into town, my wife picked up the head from the machine shop this morning. Pics when I get to the house.
The 2.5l 5 cylinder. It consumed more oil inbetween oil changes, then what it took to change its oil.
Lol. I actually have a pic of me next to the white trabi of my host family's. My wife has it on the fridge. Complete with my acid washed Jean jacket.
It was amazing how they assembled the little cars with what we'd call "unconventional" materials. The advertising for them was quite humorous too. One showed a family camping with a little trailer attached. 17 years from the point of order to delivery. Crazy stuff.
The one my host family had, he got 1 year before reunification, and had he waited a year, he could've bought a pretty loaded 3 series. Heck, I was offered a running trabant for an extra pair of Levis. Sending an 1100 lb car back as a 17 yr old was an issue. Heck, I could've traded cotton for cotton. I'd actually like to have one now, drop the biggest baddest triple piped triple 2 stroke sled motor in it and have fun. Give it German flag race stripes, and call it the DDR 800. OK, Unicorn1 , you got your head back, and the plug is out. Did you find out why 1 chamber is off color?
You should compression test it once it's all back together. A good idea regardless but it will give you a rough idea of what kind of condition the Pistons/rings are in. Looks like they milled the head and did some valve work. If that's the case, it's prob gonna run a whole lot better and burn less oil. Don't forget that nasty-seize on the plug threads. Doesn't take much but it makes a big difference later on.
check on headbolts, they are single use bolts on some engines. just trying to help. where do you get your parts?
