Absolutely. Plus, a mere 5 week election campaign once every 4 or 5 years. Plus lot's of pristine outdoors and a few not so bad cities and so forth. I truly hope we are grateful for all we have been given. Now if we can just look after it before its too late.

I went through the fridge today and pulled out the two bags of crabapple seeds I put up last October. A few started to sprout, so 32 seeds were put into the starter trays. I should have started these a few weeks ago. I have no idea how this is going to go. Daily misting I think is in order, maybe a plastic tent to keep the moisture in and the cat out. I put a little more water in the bags and put the remainder of the seeds back into the fridge for a possible second round of plantings. I am not starting an orchard, but hope to get 4 or 6 trees out of this for jelly and wildlife food. The apple blossoms will be a bonus as well as feeding the local bees someday.

This may not be a big thing, but I am pretty happy they sprouted. I can't help but think spring now.

Good stuff. Never too many apple trees. Had a moose wander into the yard this past week and he started to browse on our favorite Cortland apple tree so had to chase him away. The nerve eh!

Yeah, it's free if you don't mind waiting in line for 6 months to get it. Not to mention good luck trying to find a family doctor.

That's not good. We are fortunate here with the Group Health Center that was started by the Steelworkers way back in the day and now it provides great family medicine. We went without for a short while when our Doc retired but have an excellent GP now. Good Luck in finding a GP. No offense but I'll pray for you Rotti!

I'm lucky Bob as I have one. The problem exists for a lot of people in this area though. Plus, the local hospital leaves a lot to be desired for the level of service it offers. 12 hour waits in the ER are quite common. They now have a recent MI and have had a Cat Scan for awhile. Problem is that if you get sent to Ottawa for anything other than basic care, the Ottawa Hospitals make you go thru the testing again because they do not care for the way the tests are done and how the results are read. Waste of time and resources for sure................Been there, Done that and have the Tee Shirt. When I shattered my elbow last March, the Ottawa General was fully prepared to sent me home to come back in a week to 10 days before they would operate on it due to the fact that because the bones weren't protruding through the skin it was not severe enough to require immediate surgery.......................That's an example of our wonderful medical system.

There's enough in the news already. I've got my fill. Maybe the trays can go in front of the tv?

I understand your angst now for sure ... but WTH is going on? That is crazy. For sure it is not for the lack of tax dollars. But the waste is another matter entirely. And another question ... what are our priorities? Oh how I wish we could outsource our Premier. I guess all we can say for sure is ... "we live in interesting times."

    We can't make this political..
but on face value single payer makes financial sense.
The problem with bureaucracies running something that makes sense at face value, is irrelevant when politicians and tax payer dollars are involved.

Yes indeed. totally agree. Healthcare delivery is a complex subject. Healthcare per se is not the root problem. Our society is aging and extremely unhealthy and that is the problem we face. Our system does not take this into account. From a pure per capita dollars perspective, Canada spends about 60% as much as the U.S. and everyone is covered but not always in an effective and timely manner. If we spent 40% more it would function well. But, we are all stuck with the same reality, that being - trusting politicians with our money is like putting Col. Sanders in charge of the chicken coup. Both healthcare systems are in need of reform but suffer in different ways. I will try my best to remain optimistic and positive.

Really really windy here this morning with a gorgeous sunrise on our walk. NO, I didn't take the camera or phone with me so you will just have to use your imagination. Got the Canadian Women Curling championships to watch today and the rest of the week.
