It was a steal at the previous $649, this is an astonishing price! I have seen them locally for over $1100 within the last year.

Someone suggested that they may be discontinued, must explain the cheap price.

Say what? Nooo. All HDs have the 13 and 30 20% off right now...it's just that this particular store has been selling them for $649 for the last year or so...so 20% off is $519. Dunno why they are selling so much less than everybody else, but they are, there are several people on this site that have purchased from this store.
If it was discontinued it would say no longer available...and I have not seen that here, or at any retailer for the 30

That was me speculating on another thread, but I have no inside scoop or anything. I just see a lot of overlap between the 13 and 30 with the new Madisons they are starting to come out with.

Ever shopped at a chain grocery store, and the advertised item @ $1.99 rings up at $3.99? I worked in large retail chains before (non grocery). Granted this was a long time ago..... It was up to the store manager (that usually delegated the department managers, or me) to update price changes manually. Update meaning put a sale $ on it or change it back to regular $. Most of them were automatic from corporate, but still every week there were pages that needed to changed manually, meaning typed into the stores computer by hand. I have a sneaking feeling this was a brief sale that was never corrected back to the non sale price. Lots of possibilities besides that though:)

Does the 30 meet the new EPA regs? I would think it will go away or at least be modified at some point due to the regs.
In the meantime, my inlaws are thinking about a new stove...I need to get a decision outta 'em before somebody "fixes" this current HD sale price!

I believe it is the cleanest large non-cat out there, and cleaner than many cats. It easily meets the new regs.

This has me chomping at the bit hard. How long is the sale good? I'll check the HD site about the sale. I'll be hacked off missing out on it but have to keep cash tight right now because of taxes. Sucks! I might just buy one anyway. That price will not be beaten I do not think.

Right where I want to be.
If anyone jumps on this deal, do yourself a huge favor and either build or have someone build a convection deck for it and get the better blower.
    You can thank me later.:)
I REALLY wish ESW would make a deck for it.

The only way you will ever get as capable of a stove as this for less than that price (new) would be to steal it.

I checked my local HD too and they are on sale there for $719 which is a great price too. Durango at $519 would depend on the shipping costs. I thought people were getting that for $99 bucks but it has been a bit so I am foggy. Might pull the trigger tomorrow just to get it over with. I won't use it until next fall anyway if I do.

That would be a little rough sneaking out with and the jail time and lawyers fees the stove would cost way more than $519. Think I'll pass on that one but I do not think they will ever be had for less.

Probably not, you better snatch one up.

I know,,,, I know. Last Saturday I dipped into my mad money fund to get the wife a pup and you know how that goes. Just the beginning of the puppy money stream. On the flip side I can blow some money since she is all happy and content with her new dog. Might be perfect timing actually.

She likes to give me grief about my need to always buy new "heating thingys" and such. She hates being cold and surely enjoys the heat though. Last fall I drug home two pellets stoves in a month and she wasn't real happy about me blowing almost $7 grand on them. She shut the hell right on up as soon as they were toasting her up too. Last winter I gave her hell about it and constantly reminded her how she wasn't happy about that.

For some strange reason she now has a foggy memory of the not being happy about it part. The new P68 was bad enough then I bought a used PC45 for another $1,600 and she was chapped about that. Plus pipe thimbles and all it added up quick. Now she loves them because it makes her life warm and easy.

Yeah, I think it might be time to pull the trigger again. Already have my response ready. You got your pup so I got my stove. Touche'
